The Officer’s Wife Life: Falling Asleep In The Middle of Conversations

PNPA Mini Ring

Oh, I understand alright!

When you’re an officer’s wife, you cannot afford to be too sensitive. There are days when your husband gets so busy that he cannot even find the time to call or text. There are days when you want to go out on a date but he can’t because they’re on red alert (no excuses–even on your anniversary!). And there are days when he gets too tired that he falls asleep in the middle of a conversation you’ve waited for for days.

When this happens, just laugh it off…

One evening, while we were getting ready to sleep, I was having a conversation with the hubby about the new projects I landed, the business I recently launched with my cousin, the minis, the kind of furniture I want for the house we’re going to build, and a lot of many other things when Arjay, out of nowhere, said:

“Championship na ba yan?”

I stopped, looked at him (who was staring blankly at the ceiling) and asked:

“Anong championship?”

He looked at me and replied:

“Huh? Anong championship?!”

A few seconds later, he giggled like a little boy and told me that he must have fallen asleep and started dreaming about a blackboard with scores WHILE we were talking.

Can you imagine that?! Nananaghinip ng gising! Yan ang isa sa super powers ng mga nag kadete dati. Maraming variation ang super power na yan. Isa doon ay falling asleep with eyes wide open while in formation. Haha!

Fellow officers’ wives, have you experienced this with your hubby? Grabe noh?! Don’t take it badly, though. We must understand that these guys are usually dead tired by the time they reach home because of their line of work. Just think of it this way: It’s not you, it’s him. 😀

Oh I can so relate. I’m a wife of an officer in the military too. I still cannot get used to it even if we’ve been married for more than 10 years. During the rare times he stays home for long, I catch him falling asleep wherever he lays his back on haha He says it’s the only time he can truly rest. Anyway, he does try his best to spend quality time with my kids and I and we’re just happy to have him home.

Hi April! Welcome to the blog 🙂 It is so easy for them to fall asleep anytime, anywhere noh? My husband jokes that give him anything to rest his back on and he can fall asleep in a snap. 😀

I’m not a kadet’s wife, but I am wife to a husband called to serve full time in the ministry. Although we are often reminded not to leave our family at the altar, one of the things that I’m coming into terms with is that when he has to go, he has to go. Kids and I have gotten used to his many out-of-town ministry events that can go as long as 3-4 days, sometimes, we get to accompany him, pero ang hirap! because he’s busy, I’m dakilang yaya, ang likot pa naman ng bunso.

Anyway, I can relate to your husband’s panaginip ng gising because to be honest, I’m the one who had confused my dream as reality, hehehehe.

I can relate! My husband sometimes takes us with him when he has out-of-town seminars. He gets really busy so the kids and I end up staying in the hotel room na lang.
