My Latest Discovery: Body Sugaring

When it comes to hair removal, I have only tried four methods on my underarms: shaving, plucking, waxing and threading. I stopped shaving and plucking because of the chicken skin effect these methods cause. Also, these seem to have made my underarms darker. And so I went on to try waxing. It was fast, but not pain-free. I also tried threading, but I am always left in tears after going through the whole procedure.

Last month, though, I discovered yet another hair removal method: body sugaring. According to About.Com, sugaring is an ancient middle-eastern practice that uses an all-natural paste or gel made from food-derived ingredients like sugar, water, and lemon juice to remove the hair follicle from the root.

Hair did not grow back as fast as the four methods I tried (it took more than a month for hair to show up). When hair did show up, they were very thin — barely visible, actually. But, what I really like about sugaring is that it is much less painful than waxing and threading. It is very fast, too, which is great for mums who have a hundred errands to do.

So far, I have only tried body sugaring on my underarms (Php 200 at Barenaked Body Sugaring Salon). You can use this method to trim the brows, remove hair from your legs as well as on the bikini area. Barenaked has sugaring packages in case you want to have hair removal done on multiple parts of the body.

What are you waiting for? Give body sugaring a try!
