My Kid Just Said #9

I cannot believe that it’s been three months since I last published a My Kid Just Said post. The Princess talks in complete sentences now and The Little Man utters words aside from Mommy, Dada, milk, and poopoo (hehe!). But for today, I’ll share what The Princess said that really touched me.

02212014

I scolded the Little Man earlier today because he kept spilling his milk (intentionally) on the floor. I already raised my voice because before pouring his milk on the floor, he also played with his poop (again!!!) and wiped it all over our pillows. Ugh! The worst thing is, he kept laughing at me while I was telling him that he shouldn’t have done those things.

I was beyond irritated. I was really, really angry. I was about to snap when I noticed the Princess looking at me. I could see that she was scared. That’s when I realized that it was so pathetic that I got so angry for spilled milk and poop on the pillows… because I can just clean those up, right? I could have just talked to the Little Man in my normal, but firm voice.

So, I calmed myself down, sat down beside them, and I began to talk.

Me: I’m sorry. Mommy wasn’t able to control her temper.

The Princess: It’s okay, Mommy…

Me: You know I love both of you, right?

The Princess: I know, Mommy. We’re sorry! I love you!

I melted! She didn’t even do anything wrong, but she apologized for both of them and showed love and understanding.

I often ask A if we are good parents or if we are doing the right thing in terms of parenting the minis. I guess this incident shows that we did pretty well in raising the Princess. She is compassionate, understanding, and displays responsibility. As for our naughty Little Man, he’s very malambing naman! I understand that he is currently in a phase where he wants to explore and explore and explore… even if that means making a huge mess.

I can just imagine your raised voice. You seem so mahinhin 🙂 I sometimes do this with the kids, talking to them as if they are the same age as mine. I try to breathe in and calm myself like you do. Sarap namang ate ni Kelly!

Most of the time, I try to control my anger by giving it a few seconds to subside. This time lang talaga, sobrang iba temper ko. I think it’s PMS! Haha!

Aw! Hugs to you. Ganyan din ako minsan. Feeling ko inaasar tayo but I keep forgetting na they are trying to discover what will happen to the spilled milk and their poop everywhere. Dodo on the other hand apologizes for her sister without him doing anything wrong too.

Nakakatuwa na si Kelly! Caleb baby, what are you doing there? Hhhhmmmm

Nakakatuwa na ano? May isip at puso na talaga sila. Haha!
