Happy Halloween!

It’s that time of the year again when kids and adults alike have nothing else to talk about but scary stories. I have realized that no matter how old we get, we never really get tired of sharing creepy experiences. I guess we enjoy getting the goosebumps? I don’t know.

In lieu of All Hallow’s Eve, I’d like to share a few scary stories that happened in our ancestral house where I currently reside. This house is where my grandparents started their family. This is where my mum and her siblings grew up. This is also the same house where my mum, her sisters and one cousin performed the famous ritual: The Spirit of the Glass.

If you live in our area, you probably know our house as the house of horror. A lot of people report seeing entities here. Previous maids often tell us that we’re not alone. We react with indifference. Not because we don’t believe what they say about our house, but because we are used to it.

So yes. We know we are not alone. We have seen them, heard them. But what matters to us is that they do not hurt anyone. In fact, we like having them around; simply because they act as guardians of the house. These entities like giving people who have bad intentions a scare.

For instance, we once had a maid that constantly took money and jewelry from us. My mum likes giving people the benefit of the doubt, which is why we allowed her to stay. One night, though, we went home with our maid looking so rattled in our porch. She didn’t want to go back into the house. She reported seeing a man following her around the house. She ran to her room, he was there. She ran to the living room, he was also there. After that incident, she decided to leave. She left some of her stuff and guess what? We found some of our missing money and jewelries in her closet.

Another maid did the same thing. We really are prone to theft. She eventually resigned, telling us that something or someone kept stepping on her at night.

We also had a maid that goes home after 5. She’s really nice, which is why she does not complain about entities scaring her away. However, one morning, she asked us if we had visitors the previous night. According to her, she saw my mum and I hanging out in the terrace. Yes, we were hanging out that time, but it was just us. She insisted that we had guests. She said there was a kid standing right beside me; the kid was leaning on my lap. Creepy?

I have seen and felt these entities myself as well. When I was in high school, I remember waking up at around 3 in the morning because I heard my wrist watch fall on my room’s wooden floor. It was really loud. I opened my eyes and saw an old lady, bent down, as if about to pick up the watch. I only had a lamp on so I didn’t see her face. I thought it was our maid so I went back to sleep and didn’t make a fuss out of it. Apparently, my room was locked and no one went in the whole night.

Daddy A also has a bunch of scary stories to share about our house. The first time he encountered the entities was when we were still dating. He was in the garage inside my car; it was his first time to visit our house. I was upstairs then. It was very quiet at first when he suddenly heard a voice, as if it was whispering very near his ear. “Sino ka? (Who are you?)” it said repeatedly and got even louder when he covered his ears. He was sweating like crazy when I came down and requested that we leave right away.

The other time he experienced the others was after Kelly was born. It was around 10 in the evening. It was a summer night so it was a bit humid. We haven’t bought an airconditioner then so it was extremely warm in our room. And because it was warm, Kelly couldn’t go to sleep. I told A that I’ll bring Kelly to my mum’s room, but he was too tired to reply so I just turned off the light and left with Kelly. A few minutes later, A came into my mum’s room with a pillow in his arms and his heart pounding. “What happened to you?” I asked. According to him, he felt someone lie beside him on the bed. You know that feeling when you sit on a bed and one side lowers? That’s how it felt. Thinking it was just me, he didn’t turn to look. Later on, he felt someone hug him. He was still thinking it was me so he turned to hug me back. To his surprise, no one was there.

The latest encounter, if it was not a malfunction, was caught on camera. My cousin was trying out the new panorama feature of the iPhone. He was taking a picture of his room (my cousin lives with us) and my sister. When they checked the photo, a man seems to be standing right behind my sister.

What makes this creepy is that there are no appliances or furniture that could have caused that shadow. It’s a bare hallway.

Happy Halloween!

Nakakaloka! Kalurkey!

Diba? Sabi ko sa’yo intense sa amin eh. :)) Kahit si K palagi kong nakikita na may tinitignan sa kitchen or sa porch. Di ko na lang ginagawang big deal kasi diba wag daw i-acknowledge hehehe.
