Burn Out, Uncertainties, & Trusting God

art work

Two weeks. We finally had two weeks of much needed rest from school. The whole family badly needed that break after getting sick over and over in the course of three weeks. I don’t think it’s the actual schooling that’s tiring, really. It’s the preparation that starts early in the morning despite The Princess’ call time being 12 noon, the drive to and from school, and work that has to be done late at night to give way for a bit of play time with the minis and bedtime stories. There is barely enough time for rest and leisure except on weekends.

But I’m not complaining. School is important and I cannot not work.

Hence I am thankful for mini vacations from routine like The Princess’ semestral break. Since we don’t have formal schooling to worry about, we had the chance to just enjoy our time. And we did–spending days painting, drawing, making music, dancing, and singing. I sort of miss how I used to have all the time in the world for the minis, but temporary sacrifices have to be made for something better soon.

Soon. Everything will be better soon.

The last four months has been a challenging time for my family. There were issues we had to fix and a mountain of uncertainties and anxieties that filled our hearts and minds. There are moments that everything just becomes too heavy to bear that I snap at my husband or lose patience with the minis. Sometimes, I get angry at myself for not trying harder, or planning better. Perhaps if I did, it wouldn’t be this hard.

“Trust in Him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us.” (Psalm 62:8)

But then I remind myself that nothing is permanent; not even our troubles. I just have to stop running away from it and just go through it. I just need to surrender and trust that God has it all figured out.

Because He already got things figured out.

Today, The Princess starts a new semester in school. I love new beginnings. They give me this feeling of being pulled out of the water and taking a breath for the very first time after holding it for so long. I know this marks the start of busy days ahead, but it also means that we our nearing our goal.

And so I welcome this fresh start with open arms, an open mind, and more importantly, an open heart.

Prayer can really do wonders. 🙂 It has gotten us through so many challenges! And I know that through prayer, God will lift up all our troubles.

Thank you for the morning inspiration, Kim! I don’t know what you’re going through, but yes, trust God for He has a plan. I don’t know if everything (as in every single thing) will be better soon because life is unpredictable but let’s rejoice in the fact that God knows us and knows what is good for us!

Indeed! I am lifting up all to Him. 🙂

we mommies sometimes worry a lot about the now. but there are things that God alone can control and there are things that we do not understand nor are we able to understand until the right time comes. so we have to let go and trust that God will bring everything to pass. and when they do, we’ll be okay.

  12. Remember Mommy, we are not superwoman. Napapagod rin tayo. Just believe in God, because I know he has a plan for us. Just think na hindi naman ibibigay ni Lord yung isang problem sa atin kung hindi natin kayang i-handle yun.

    God Bless you! 🙂

I understand how you feel mommy. Sometimes, even supermoms get exhausted too. But stay strong, focus on your goal, and keep in mind that everything will come to pass. All these things will be over soon, so hang on. You can do it!

  15. I thought we won’t do anything last week because it is sembreak, but the teacher gave two poems that we need to memorize, one in English and one in FIlipino. #bawalmagpahinga.

I agree, nothing is permanent. When I’m so stressed, I always remind myself that “this too shall pass.”

    1. Kim Reyes

Sometimes I wish teachers would just give us a break, haha! It wasn’t called a ‘break’ for nothing, right? 😀

  16. May De Jesus-Palacpac

What a beautiful blog! Yes, soon, things will be better, Kim. And God is faithful, so fix your eyes on Him over that of your circumstances. 🙂

I understand what you mean by missing being full time with the kids. You and I are on the same boat. Just hang in there. 🙂

    1. Kim Reyes

Thanks May! I don’t pray for difficult times, but somehow, I am grateful that we do encounter challenges every now and then. It keeps us grounded eh- it reminds us that there is Someone bigger, greater than us that we can turn to.

I’ll be hanging on! I know He will get us through. 🙂

  17. Renz

Amen. Good things will come 😀
I pray for more love and patience for you. It’s easy to feel guilty when we “lose” it but it only shows we are nothing but human..napapagod din 🙂

    1. Kim Reyes

Aww, thank you! There comes a time that we really need to be reminded that we are only human. Otherwise, we might work ourselves to death. Lol!
