How to Request PLDT Transfer of Line

How to request for transfer of line from PLDT

Something exciting is brewing in the MOD Home and to make our plans possible, we have to cut back on expenses we can live without. While opening my very own office was a huge thing for me, this year, we are closing our bigger office and moving it to a temporary location until we finally move it to its permanent home.

Since we are still in contract with PLDT MyDSL, I called PLDT to ask about the possibility of transferring my current account to our new location instead of opening a new account. Thankfully, it is possible! Yay!

If you are moving to a new location and would like to continue your PLDT MyDSL subscription in your new place, you have two options when you request PLDT transfer of line:

OPTION 1: Simultaneous Transfer will allow you to continuously use your internet connection while your request is being transferred. The line in your old location will only get cut after the line in your new location is all set.

OPTION 2: Transfer With Effective Date is the better option if you do not mind having the line cut while your request is being processed. Upon approval of this type of request, they will immediately cut the line in your old location and resume connectivity only once the line in your new location is active. You will not be billed during the time that your line is inactive.

Whether you choose option 1 or option 2, you will be billed PHP 1,500 on top of your usual bill for the transfer fee. This amount will be reflected in your next bill so there is no need to pay for this right away.

Requirements for PLDT Transfer of Line Request:

  • A signed letter of request with the account name, account number, the reason for transfer as well as the option you prefer.
  • A copy of one (1) valid I.D. of the account owner.

You can email all these to customercare@pldt.com.ph. However, if you want faster turnaround time, it is best to bring these to the nearest PLDT branch. Since I have not been able to leave the house lately because the minis are sick and I just had two of my wisdom teeth surgically removed, I opted to just email all my documents. This took a bit more time, but since I am not in a hurry anyway, I am fine with the extra waiting time.

If you want your PLDT MyDSL line terminated, I have a separate blog post about that here. For other questions and concerns about requesting for PLDT transfer of line, please call the PLDT hotline at 171. Their customer representatives can better answer your questions. 🙂

Please note that this website and its owner are not connected to PLDT. If you have any concerns, it is best to request support through the correct channels.

Hello, can i change my account name to other new person account name? if can, how?

    1. Kimberley Reyes

Hi Nina! I think it’s possible, but you have to coordinate with PLDT directly to confirm.

  2. cynthia

very informative article thank you mam.

  3. Kring

    Hi there!

How long did it take them to transfer your connection?

  4. Nitram

Hello and Kudos! do you know how much is the Transfer fee of PLDT home FIBR internet?? Lumipat na kasi ako ng bahay. Thanks!

    1. Kimberley Reyes

I don’t remember paying for anything for our line transfer. As long as you don’t have any pending payments and you have all the items (modem, phone, etc), I don’t think you’ll need to pay.

  5. Vicpatrick Mandin

Hi MOD, I was wondering if it’s possible to transfer the account ownership?

    1. Kimberley Reyes

Hello, I believe it is since I asked about it before. Just give PLDT a call so they can provide the requirements.

      1. Emelyn Lumingas Eso

I want to move my PLDT line my new home

  6. Jane

Hello! I just want to ask how soon did you call 171 about the transfer request? A few weeks or days before ka lumipat?

    1. Kimberley Reyes

As soon as I confirmed we’re moving. Siguro that was two weeks before the move.

      1. Jane

Ah sounds good thanks for responding. Nattakot kasi ako baka idisconnect Agad kahit na irequest ko sa 30 idisconnect. Nagwworkfrom home pa naman ako. I hope to have the same luck as you when you transferred your services. Salamat!

        1. Kimberley Reyes

You can specify po when you want to transfer para hindi ma-cut agad. 🙂 Ganun ang ginawa ko. And be in constant communication with them. Good luck!

  7. Czar

Hi there! Thanks for sharing this. Did you bring the modem/router to your new place or will PLDT bring it/provide a new one?

    1. Kimberley Reyes

They installed a new modem. I’m not sure if that’s procedure or if it’s because the old model we had before is super old na and has been having problems.

  8. Marge

    Hi Kimberly,

I am writing to send an update because I did the exact procedures you mentioned here, but the email doesn’t seem to be accepting this kind of request anymore. Here’s the email address that the PLDT customer service rep advised to send an email request to, applications@pldt.com.ph. Hope this helps.

    1. Kimberley Reyes

Hello Marge! This post was written a few years back and has not been updated. I will look into it. In the meantime, I suggest that you contact them via the PLDT Twitter account or go directly to the branch near you for assistance.

    Hi,

Was your request for transfer successful? How long did it take? It has been a month since I requested for transfer of line and they still have not conducted the request despite our countless follow-up queries. Hope you can shed a little light on this.

    Thanks!

    1. Kimberley Reyes

Hi! I requested transfer for our other line since we moved to a condo. It was granted naman. I did what I wrote in this blog post. If nothing happens through phone/email follow up, try visiting the nearest branch.

  10. Mark Wilson

Hello there,if you don’t mind, could you give me another Telco option instead of the obvious? In other countries you have a choice of different companies that are competitive so you aren’t getting shafted for downloading or speeds?

    1. Kimberley Reyes

Hi Mark – Unfortunately, I’ve only tried PLDT for wired internet service so it’s the only one I can recommend. For mobile internet, Globe’s mobile LTE has been reliable (at least for me) whenever PLDT is down.

  11. Kailen

Thank you for this post. Unfortunately, PLDT has one of the crappiest service ever. I went to their service center and requested for simultaneous transfer but they said it’s not possible because they need to cut the line immediately from their server. I showed them this post as reference and they said it can’t be done. I really hope they will improve their service and customer service since most areas/building doesn’t have any other telco/internet provider options except for their company.

    1. Kimberley Reyes

Have you tried requesting for simultaneous transfer through 172? The customer rep there was very accommodating. (Then again, it depends on who you are talking to. Some are too lazy to even check if your request is possible.)

      1. Marjorie Magsino

How to trasfer pldt account name to another person?

        1. Kimberley Reyes

Hi Marjorie, I’m not sure, sorry. It’s best to contact PLDT support for your specific query.

  12. Kayce

Hi! This post has been very helpful for me. May I ask how many weeks it took for your line to be transferred?
When I went to the PLDT service center to request for a transfer of line, I was told that it would take 2 – 3 weeks (which is too long for me, tbh, hehe!)
    Thanks a lot!

    1. Kimberley Reyes

I think it did take about two weeks. You can choose the simultaneous transfer so your current line will remain active until they’re ready to transfer it to the new location.

  13. Donna

Do you have sample letter? Thank you.

    1. Kimberley Reyes

Just mention your intent to transfer your line then include all your account details.

  14. Ralph

    Hello and Good day ma’am,
We are planning to move to another region in the Philippines. I’m also a PLDT MyDSL subscriber and still active in 3 years plus.
So is it possible to relocate to any region? Or they are limited in beyond the region which I was registered?

    1. Kimberley Reyes

I am not a representative of PLDT and only wrote this article from my own experience – so I can’t answer all questions. It is best that you go to a PLDT branch so they can better assist you. Thank you.

  15. Aerrah

Hello! I just wanna ask if it is possible to get a pldt dsl transferred and also passed on to someone else. I mean my uncle own the account and his house is only one Barangay away. I wanna take over the dsl plan. Is that possible?

    1. Kimberley Reyes

Hi Aerrah – I’m not sure, sorry. Please call 172 and speak with a customer service rep so they can help you with your concern.

  16. Jiovanni jalolino

Good day, How long did it take before the line was transferred to new location? Did PLDT give you an exact date of line termination from your old address?

    1. Kimberley Reyes

It depends on which option you choose. As written in the blog post:

OPTION 1: Simultaneous Transfer will allow you to continuously use your internet connection while your request is being transferred. The line in your old location will only get cut after the line in your new location is all set.

OPTION 2: Transfer With Effective Date is the better option if you do not mind having the line cut while your request is being processed. Upon approval of this type of request, they will immediately cut the line in your old location and resume connectivity only once the line in your new location is active. You will not be billed during the time that your line is inactive.

Hi thanks for this…. Very helpful. How long did it take for them to transfer?

    1. Kimberley Reyes

It depends on what transfer option you choose:

OPTION 1: Simultaneous Transfer will allow you to continuously use your internet connection while your request is being transferred. The line in your old location will only get cut after the line in your new location is all set.

OPTION 2: Transfer With Effective Date is the better option if you do not mind having the line cut while your request is being processed. 18. Mae Hapal
