I finally organized our shoes!

Don’t judge. But after over a year of living in our apartment, I never thought of organizing shoes in our home. As in never. I can’t seem to find the best way to keep our shoes organized so I just let them be. Sometimes, I just put our shoes on the staircase–one pair per step–but most of the time, they are everywhere…until today.

the amazing shoe rack

Tada! Look at how neatly placed all our shoes are! I’ve been meaning to find a sturdy but not so expensive shoe rack. If we weren’t living in an apartment, I would’ve had a wooden shoe cabinet made for us. However, since we are still renting, Arjay and I agreed to just get something that’s affordable and not too space-consuming.

We scoured the mall for shoe racks, but they are all so expensive! Then, I turned to the internet. Since I was recently introduced to Lamido, I checked out the site for some of the things we need in our home. The first on my list is a shoe rack, which we found on the site.

The Amazing Shoe Rack can hold up to thirty pairs of shoes and it’s less than 300 bucks. I can’t say it’s the sturdiest in the market, but it’s okay–at least for now.

The only problem I encountered is that it couldn’t hold the minis’ shoes. The rods are too far apart so when I try to place the little pairs of shoes, they’d just fall. A brilliant idea I thought of is to use disposable plastic containers. You know, the ones you use when you give your party guests take-home food? Yep, those are it.

I have a whole bag of those here because my mom likes packing food for us when we come visit. I don’t like reusing them since I can’t get the smell off the container so I just put them away in case I think of a good use for them. Thankfully, I kept all of them with me because now they have a use!

See that? I put one pair of shoes in each box and hung the boxes on the rods. I love how neat they look, don’t you? 🙂

Now that’s done, my next project is the kitchen. Right now, I have all our plates, utensils, and glasses in a container while the pots and pans are in one plastic box. Our kitchen looks hideous! If you have tips on organizing a kitchen with such a small space for storage, please share it in the comments section below. I need all the help I can get!

Nice find Kim! Now I’m reminded that I also need to buy shoe racks. I hope I’ll be able to find the same thing somewhere here.Maybe in Amazon or ebay?? Ok. Will be searching for one now..

DIY na lang! I’m thinking of doing a DIY too since this one is too small for a family of four. 🙂

Very nice!

    Salamat Kim! =)

I’m glad you found this helpful! The kids’ shoes have always been a problem. Ang liit kasi so ang hirap ayusin sa rack. I suggest that you use plastic containers that are a bit bigger than what I’m using. The ones I used are not as stable–medyo short for the gap between the poles. Kung may mahahanap ka na mas mahaba, mas okay yun. 🙂
