Kabayan Beach Resort in Laiya, Batangas

January was an unbelievably stressful, yet fulfilling month for us. I had to work extra hard because it’s the time of the year for renewing our business permit–and the cost can be a bit steep for a small business owner like myself. However, despite having to work extra hours, we’re still grateful because one of our prayers this 2017 has been answered: my husband has been promoted to Captain!

Kabayan Beach Resort is a family-friendly beach resort in Laiya, Batangas that is light on the budget and packs lots of fun for the family. | www.momonduty.com

By the time February came in, although we were extra happy, we were also drained and we thought we’d take the family on a quick weekend beach getaway in Laiya, Batangas for a breather. We’re working with a small budget so we looked for a nice Laiya beach resort that’s family friendly and affordable. That’s when we found Kabayan Beach Resort. Aside from their affordable room rates, they also allow guests to cook food themselves so that’s big savings for us versus eating at a restaurant.

Kabayan Beach Resort 2018 Rates [UPDATED]

Day Tour

There are different Day Tour packages offered by Kabayan Beach Resort. For the most basic package, wherein you will just swim at the beach, the rates are as follows:

150php/head for guests aged 12 years old and above. In excess of 25 pax, rates are: P300/Adult, P150/Kid.
75php/head for guests aged 11years old and below. In excess of 12 pax, rates are: P300/Adult,P150/Kid.

Kabayan Beach Resort ReviewFor as low as Php75-150 per person, you can enjoy the beach from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (day) OR 3:00 pm to 1:00 am (night). Nipa Huts (P2,000-3,000) are available for rent should you need one (I’m sure you would).

However, the resort also offers Day Tour and Night Tour Packages that includes meals and other amenities. You can find more information here:

If you’re going to Kabayan Beach Resort just for the day, I recommend that you opt for one of the Day Tour Packages so you can enjoy the beach, their amenities, and need not worry about your food.

Bringing of videoke, Magic Sing, sound system and the like are strictly prohibited. Also, guests are not allowed to bring their own Gasul, stoves, and cooking utensils such as pots and pans. This is why I recommend getting the packages with meals so you don’t have to worry about your food anymore.

Overnight Stay

The overnight room rates range from Php 4,500 to Php 15,000 per unit, depending on the room capacity you need. There are different room types, namely Dorm Type, Hotel Type, and Bahay Type. You can find the Kabayan Beach Resort 2017 room rates here.

We stayed in one of the 35 sqm Bahay Type rooms with two double beds (Bahay Magnolia, Cadena de Amor, Doña Aurora, Adelfa,Champaca, Poinsettia, Santan), which can fit 6 people at Php 6,500 per night. It’s basically a bahay kubo with a spacious, airconditioned room, a bathroom, and an open-air kitchen and dining area where you can cook your own food.

How to Get to Kabayan Beach Resort via Public Transport

  1. Take a bus from Manila going to Lucena in Kamuning (under the flyover, near GMA in Timog Avenue). Three bus liners take that route: Jack Liner, Jam, and Tritran).
  2. Go down from the bus once you reach Lipa, Batangas. If you see Robinson’s, McDonald’s, and Jollibee within the same area, you’re in the right place.
  3. From there, take a tricycle ride going to the jeep terminal heading to San Juan, Batangas. Ride the San Juan-bound jeepneys there.
  4. Once you reach San Juan town proper, look for a jeepney heading to Laiya. Let the driver know that you’re heading to Kabayan Beach Resort so they can drop you off there.

What To Bring

  1. Aqua Shoes – The sand at Kabayan Beach Resort is not as fine as that in Boracay. It is best to bring aqua shoes to protect your feet from sharp rocks.
  2. Insect Repellant – Since the resort is surrounded by trees, expect to have a lot of mosquitoes and flies buzzing around your hut. Protect yourself by putting on mosquito repellant. I suggest that you light candles while you dine in the al fresco dining area of the huts to keep flies away.
  3. Food – The resort allows guests to bring in food. We tried to dine at their in-house restaurant, but the price is quite steep. If you’re staying there as a group, it is best to bring food with you and just cook the food yourself. Each hut comes with a fully functional kitchen anyway, so might as well use it!

My boys love the beach and sand. I would love to take a vacation there and enjoy the water as well. Surely my boys would love to build their sandcastle and run around.

  2. Lhourdes Mercadero

This is so timely I’m looking for a nice and affordable beach/place to visit in Batangas for an overnight stay. Stress Na masyado sa city

  3. TweenselMom

I’ve been to kabayan resort once but as I remember medyo malalaki ang pebbles sa sand nila diba?

  4. Because summer is almost here, we’re already scouting for a great place for the whole fambam. Will check out this beach resort. Thanks!

  5. Cris Evert Lato Ruffolo

That’s a steal! Congratulations on the husband’s promotion. I was reading the comments and you mentioned you didn’t take a lot of pictures because you decided to enjoy the time with your loved ones! Amen to that. Sometimes the best pictures are stored in your heart.

    1. Kimberley Reyes

Exactly! The weeks leading to my husband’s promotion were extremely busy so when we finally had the chance to spend some time as a family, we grabbed it! If it means dropping all our gadgets and just enjoying our time together, so be it. 🙂

  6. Janice

Very timely! I’m already scouting for places to go this summer. Been to La Luz and Laiya Coco Grove only so far in that area.

  7. Cheanne

Congrats to the hubby! 🙂 Laiya is a popular destination for quick getaways. It sure is nice to have a breather from city life.

  8. Maan Laxa

Wow congratulations to your hubby! The rates are not bad ha, especially the room because it already has complete facilities. I already miss going to the beach even though I’ve just been to Samal Island last week. The sea really does refresh the soul!

  9. Josephine

Congrats to your hubby! 🙂 Our family loves going to tge beach too! We’ll consider this resort next time, 🙂

  10. Liz Aquino

Still trying to convince the fam to have a beach outing this year. It’s been ages since we’ve been to one! I’ll include this in my list but most likely, we will be going to a beach somewhere in Region 1. 🙂

  11. Mommy Queenelizabeth

Oh you’ve been to Laiya! Its an hour drive away from my hometown.. i always love the beach there!

  12. Ayi

I like Batangas for a quick beach getaway, but it’s too far from me since I’m from North :)) We’re planning a beach trip though since the kids love the beach, and will look into this 🙂 Thanks!

  13. Lariza Garcia

ay buti na lang they allow food from the outside
will definite check this one since lagi akong out of town these days

  14. Macy Santos

I haven’t been to Laiya since I spend my yearly beach time in Boracay. However, I wonder what type of accommodations they have since their overnight rate is quite pricey? Hope you posted more pics of the beach area and amenities. Thanks.

    1. Kimberley Reyes

The accommodation we got is a bungalow style hut complete with a bedroom with two double beds (airconditioned), bathroom, dining area, and fully functional kitchen. It’s basically a house already. It can accommodate up to six people. I wish I had more photos too, but since our purpose there was to really bond as a family after a busy month wherein we barely saw/talked to each other, I decided to drop everything and just enjoy. 😉

    1. Kimberley Reyes

There sure are a lot of places to discover in the South! Yep, it’s a bit far but worth it. I suggest staying two nights for more relaxation time.

  15. Haven’t been to Batangas for quite some time now. It’s actually the first time I’ve heard of Kabayan. Will tell.hubby we’re looking kasi for a quick weekend getaway this coming March. 🙂

  16. Mommy Levy

congratulations on your husband’s promotion, yey!
This place looks nice for a family bonding kasi hindi din ganun kamahal.

  17. Jhanis

Oh nice that you can cook! That’s what I usually look for when booking accommodations for the family. Gives you big savings talaga. We know that restaurants in resorts can be very pricey. And oh, congrats to your hubby on the promotion!

    1. Kimberley Reyes

Thank you! And yes – we prefer resorts that allow guests to bring their own food. Isa sa kumakain ng budget yung eat out during vacations eh!

  18. gilian

I’ve always heard of Kabayan resort when looking for Batangas resorts. A good quick getaway is always needed whenever we feel stressed. I need one right now. Haha. 🙂

  19. Madz

I haven’t been to this resort yet. This post would be really helpful. We’ve only been to Calatagan and we didn’t enjoy it very much.

    1. Kimberley Reyes

I’ve never been to Calatagan! Do you have a review about your stay there? I thought it’s nice there!

  20. Momma Mitch

What a nice getaway for you and your family. My January has been very busy, too! We originally planned to go to Tagaytay sana kasi January was our wedding month anniversary but instead we found ourselves packing our clothes and household stuff for a quick lipat bahay. But still, kahit stressful ang both January natin, ang dami pa ring blessings. Congrats to your hubby for being promoted as a Captain! Super yay for you! 🙂

  21. EINz

I was also planning for our beach escape, and list down kabayan resort in our choices. But the reviews on sharp rocks makes me cross it out from our list.

    1. Kimberley Reyes

I didn’t really find the rocky sand too much of a bother. All you need are aqua shoes and you’re all set.

  22. mamaspeaksagain

We have been to Kabayan Beach Resort a couple of times in the past. My boys love if there. The resort is very well kept. Also one of the most affordable resorts in Laiya

  23. ceemee

I miss going to the beach! But, sometimes I prefer places with cooler climate for the summer. I wonder what the weather’s like in Balesin… that’s where we’re headed in summer. I hope the kids could play with sand, too.

  24. Coi Ibanez

Hopefully this summer makapag-beach na kami!! Haven’t been on the beach for yeaarrssssss!! I miss it so much!!! Sana talaga makapag-beach kami this year! Hehehe! Thanks for this… Will put this on the list na 🙂

    1. Kimberley Reyes

Years talaga??? I can’t imagine not going to the beach for that long! Haha! Enjoy!

  25. Jenelyn Palogod-Uboñgen

I have to take note of this since we usually go to Batangas and try different beaches and accomodations. It’s really nice to have family travel once in a while just to relax and have some bonding moments. 😉

    1. Kimberley Reyes

I believe Kabayan Beach Resort is one of the cheaper resorts in Laiya. But what I love about it is that although it’s light on the budget, you won’t really feel like it’s a “cheap” resort. Our family enjoyed our 2-day stay there! In fact, the kids didn’t want to leave.

  26. Edel San

We love the beach at Laiya although we haven’t stayed at Kabayan Resort yet. We usually stay at La Luz. What’s also nice about Laiya is that the water is clean and you can see some fishes and sea urchins.

    1. Kimberley Reyes

I’ve heard a lot about La Luz too! Kabayan came as a recommendation from a friend so we tried it. Okay naman!
