Johnson’s Baby Active Fresh Encourages Active Play Through the Shadow Playground

Johnson's Baby Active Fresh

At the beginning of the year, Arjay and I started implementing limited screen time in our household to encourage creative and independent play. The change did not just apply to the minis but also to us, their parents. This meant limited television and iPad time (and laptop time for me).

While some parents frowned at our decision, I can proudly say that we’ve done a good job as a family. The minis found other ways to entertain themselves: The Princess has created lots of amazing art works while The Little Man has shown interest in making music. Moreover, with less screen time, we have been encouraged to play and explore outside of the house, which is great since it doubles as our exercise time! The most wonderful result, however, is that our bond with the minis has become deeper.

I am so happy to know that Johnson’s Baby is promoting the same thing! By creating unique outdoor venues where parents and children can play, Johnson’s Baby encourages parents to take their kids out for an hour-long play every day.

Johnson’s Baby believes that active play between a mother and child gives way not only to a child’s mental, physical and emotional development, but also allows for a mother to express her love for her child.

Last March 29, Johnson’s Baby’s Shadow Playground was launched at the Market! Market! Play Area. It is the first of its kind in the world so I am glad to have been part of the group that got to try it out. Well, I watched parents and kids try the playground out – I didn’t have the minis with me then, sayang!

If you are worried about your child smelling “amoy araw” after playing outdoors, worry not because we now have Johnson’s Baby Active Fresh! We tried the Active Fresh Powder before heading to the playground, which worked really well since I smelled fresh despite being under the sun during the launch. It is best to pair it with Johnson’s Baby Active Fresh Bath to keep your mini smelling fresh all day long!

The new Active Fresh Technology has sweat-activated fragrance, which releases a pleasant, long-lasting smell when it comes into contact with sweat.

While I like using Johnson’s Baby Milk Bath on the minis, I think I’ll shift to Active Fresh this summer since the minis will be playing outdoors a lot!

Hi is ” no more tears active fresh bath” safe to use for a 3 month old baby?

    1. Kimberley Reyes

I think Active Fresh is better for older kids (this is just coming from my own experience). Try something gentler for your infant, like products by Mustela and Aveeno.

You should’ve said hi! I knew no one there. Hahaha! Medyo loner ako that time. I would’ve loved to hang out with you.

Your photos are really nice, Kim! I am so with you on the “limited screen time”
shift for the kids. I’ve been doing this with Little MrC and it really makes a difference.

My son and I were there in the launch too! Not the typical playground indeed. We just need to put on extra skin protection since the games/shadows are best at noon time 🙂

    1. Kim Reyes

Yes, it was really hot when we went to the playground so parents should remember to bring sunblock with them when they go to the Shadow Playground.

You know I will always support you with your parenting decision, just because your child is not being brought up with gadgets it does not make them any less brighter. When I heard of this playground I was thinking it would be a good idea too pero takot ako ihalubilo yung mga twin stars ko at maliliit pa. Permanent na ba ang shadow playground?

    1. Kim Reyes

I don’t think they’ll remove it any time soon. 🙂 Actually, I forgot to mention that the Shadow Playground will be enjoyed by older kids more. I think it’s best for kids 4 and up. It’s an open area kasi so it’s kind of hard to take toddlers there. You have to watch them closely talaga.

I saw this in the commercial and will buy iton our next grocery trip. This is a must have this summer. My son’s baby powder just wont cut it na. Amoy araw padin hehe

  9. I’ve been wanting to try the Active Fresh Bath. Have noticed that Ziggy becomes “amoy araw” faster lately because of the heat. Can’t use the powder on him though because he has asthma tendencies.

    1. Kim Reyes

Ah yes. My kids tend to have the “amoy araw” smell too since they get sweaty really fast. Ang init kasi! I’m planning to use Active Fresh Bath this summer, but I won’t use the powder too since we have a history of asthma.

Aww. Namiss ko to. I bet makapal na sunscreen ang kailangan dito. haha. I’m a Johnson’s mom din kasi affordable at in fairness, mabango naman. I can’t leave the house without baby powder. It’s my summer sanity saver for me. haha.

    1. Kim Reyes

Well, you don’t need to take the kids there pag tirik ang araw. Haha! And yes, I agree, Johnson’s Baby does its job well at an affordable price. I want to use the powder, but I think I’ll stick with the bath soap lang since we are a family of asthmatics.

  11. We’re just a few blocks away from this playground but I’ve been a bit anxious about taking our kids there because our ratio is 2 adults: 3 super active kids and there’s always a lot of kids playing there. So we take the kids to run with us instead at Track 30. The other playground is currently messed and vandalized — well I didn’t think it was child-friendly anyway. The slide didn’t have anything much to hold on to esp for younger kids. Maybe one morning when there’s less kids. It does look like a great place for kids to play at. My sons always looks longingly at it.

I’ve also been trying my best to be into more play-less gadget lifestyle with my kids, though mejo hard. You’re right when you say they can find ways to entertain themselves outside these devices, I’ve seen that in my kids as well, and it’s good for them pa! :)Kudos to you!

    1. Kim Reyes

Ay, it’s hard nga if the ratio is 2 adults with 3 kids since that area is open so the kids can go anywhere if not watched/followed. I’ve never taken my kids to that play area, though, since my minis are still very small so I never had the chance to inspect the playground. The Shadow Playground is beside the slides and it’s not as big so it’s pretty easy to play with the kids there. 🙂
