5 Ways To Turn Your Mood Around

All moms have bad days. In my case, these bad days happen when it’s that time of the month. It just feels so uncomfortable–especially that I need to follow my kids around.

Ways To Turn Your Mood Around

But, it doesn’t mean I can go around snapping at everyone just because I’m having a bad day.

My mood swings began last week, the week before Mother Nature came to visit. Daddy A’s first question was if I was pregnant. Haha! No, I’m not. I’m just like that before and during my period. That’s why I need bring-me-ups during this time of the month.

Below are some ways to turn your mood around when your day isn’t going so well. These are things that worked well for me, but you can add other tips that worked for you in the comments section below this post! 🙂

5 Ways to Turn Your Mood Around

Have some floor time. Not having a good day and the kids are going crazy? Put your favorite mat on the floor, scatter your kids’ favorite toys on it and have some floor time. You can lay down beside your kids while they enjoy having you around during play time.

Is floor time not working? Go on a walk with the kids. This works like wonders. The other day, the kids were really fussy and all we did to put an end to the whining and crying is a nice, long walk. By the time we reached home, the two little ones were both ready to take a nap.

Give yourself a break. Like most moms, I use The Minis’ nap time to check emails, get some work done or clean up the house. When you’re having a bad day, I think it’s just right to give yourself a break. Take a nap while your kids nap. A few minutes of shuteye will surely turn your mood around!

Treat yourself to a yummy snack! Eating junk food every single day is bad for your health. Rather, reserve those sweets and junkies for bad days (which shouldn’t be every day ha!!!). I like eating a plate of pancit canton with boiled egg when I’m not feeling so good. Sometimes, I treat myself to a bar of Snickers or, when I have extra bucks, to a yummy La Creperie mango crepe.

Don’t hesitate to get some help. As much as we’d all like to be Wonder Woman, well, we aren’t. If you need help with the kids, don’t hesitate to ask someone to help take care of them–even for just a day. When I am having bad days, I either ask my mom to watch The Minis for a while or I hire a babysitter. YES! We found a willing babysitter (our neighbor) and we are so grateful for her help. Would you believe she only charges us P200 a day? We usually throw in another hundred bucks and let her eat anything she wants from our fridge during her “shift.” She is heaven-sent!

How about you? How do you turn your mood around?

Times like these, I repeat this mantra in my head: She’s just a kid, she’s just a kid, she’s just a kid. Must. Not. Snap. Lol. Or something like that. Or when I’m feeling particularly sane, I just hug her and tell her Mommy loves her. 🙂

I do that too. They are just kids anyway and it’s not their intention to “piss us off.”

I can so relate to this post! What I do now is to get off the computer because sometimes, it’s what’s causing my temper. when I’m working or doing something online. so i take my fingers off the keys and spend some time with my kids. 🙂

That’s true for me too! Sometimes a few hours away from the computer can do wonders.
